Helpful Math Tips for Home - From the No Child Left Behind Act.
  • Encourage your child to use a daily math assignment book.
  • Follow the progress your child is making in math. Check with your child daily about his homework.
  • If you don‘t understand your child‘s math assignments, engage in frequent communication with his or her teacher.
  • If your child is experiencing problems in math, contact the teacher to learn whether he or she is working at grade level and what can be done at home to help improve academic progress.
  • Request that your child‘s teacher schedule after-school math tutoring sessions if your child really needs help.
  • Use household chores as opportunities for reinforcing math learning such as cooking and repair activities.


Problem of the Week - Problem of the Week answers must be left in the Problem of the Week drop box in Mr. Spears' office by the end of the day Thursday of that week. Responses must have students name, classroom teacher's name and most important all of students work and thinking MUST be shown to receive credit. When a student gets three problems correct they will have the opportunity to pick a reward from the Problem of the Week prize basket. A class needs to earn 100 stars to have a pizza party. The class earned 27 stars in

March and 32 stars in April. How many more stars does the class need to earn to

have a pizza party?

Grade 4 Word Problem of the Week

Quinn used a total of 56 apples to make pies. Each pie was made with the same

number of apples. How many pies could Quinn have made?

Trisha has a job walking 16 dogs for her neighbors. She can walk

 one, two, or threedogs on each trip to the park. What is
